The client had a specific, very tight corner space in their new home into which their 32” LCD TV had to fit. They also wanted the TV unit to be entirely enclosed. The hotel-style hideaway top front doors and two hinged doors with sliding shelves below gave them maximum utility. CVG Fir was used to match existing trim and casework. MDF veneered CVG and solid fir were used throughout. Five coats of polyurethane finish were applied. Based on the amount of cantilevered weight on the pullout/swivel shelf (165 lb. TV), a back mounting plate and timber screws were used to secure the unit into corner studs.
The client for the A/V center to the left needed something that would “wrap around” the existing stonework yet allow sufficient clearance from the wood burning stove; and provide storage for A/V gear and CDs/tapes. The finish was to match the existing dining room table and chairs – a distressed, sand-over style blue-gray paint and three coats of polyurethane as clear coat. Red-oak veneered MDF and solid red oak were used throughout.
